Currently, the Hospital Authority is working with HUD to complete the various documents required for federal backing of the Build America Bonds that will be sold to finance the modernization project.
HUD has requested a copy of the contract between the Hospital Authority and the Effingham County Commission. Next, the HUD officials will visit Effingham County. Various county leaders will be interviewed by the HUD team. Once all of the elements of the financing/mortgage/construction/regulatory compliance plan has been reviewed and signed, the investment banker will start selling the bonds.
Once the bonds are sold and the financing released....we will start constructiion. This could start by late fall
2010 but no later than early January 2011. Thank you for your interest in our health system expansion.

Thank you for your question. The decision was made to change our web address to EffinghamHealth.org
for many reasons, the most significant being that we believe it is important for our community to know that we are so much more than a "Hospital." Effingham Hospital and Care Center now has a comprehensive Women's Imaging Center & Radiology Center and Open MRI Center in Rincon; an Industrial Medicine Program serving companies across the county and beyond, also located in Rincon; we have a Sports Medicine program that serves the two county high schools; we have a family health practices in Port Wentworth, at Goshen and in Rincon; we are about to introduce a new surgery practice here in Springfield and our plans over the next several years include adding additional preventative wellness programs that will continue meeting the ever-changing health needs of our growing community.
The new website has been an extremely effective tool to get the word out about all that we offer and now offers more information such as helpful articles on some of today's most pressing health issues. Since the launch of our new site in February of this year, we are seeing an average of 1,100 visitors per month which is a significant increase. We can identify that nearly 86% of the visitors coming to our new site are coming because they typed in EffinghamHealth.org giving us confidence that the change has not created confusion of who we are and how to find us.
Effingham Hospital and Care Center has important relationships with the Savannah hospitals. We are all partners in health for the region; but, we have no formal relationship with any hospital system, other than our Critical Access Hospital referral relationship is with the St. Joseph/Candler Health System.
Hope you will take some time to visit the new site as it is updated frequently with new information.
Effingham Hospital has a very involved Sports Medicine program that primarily serves the two high schools in our county. We provide two sports trainers, one at each high school, to support the athletic program.
In addition to two staff persons funded by the Hospital Authority as a part of our Community Benefit responsibility as a non-profit hospital, we provide free physicals each year for athletes in the Middle Schools as well as the the High Schools. At the end of each school year, the Hospital Authority recognizes athletes from each High School that have excelled throughout the year with a Sports Banquet. The main Sports Medicine office is located at the intersection of Goshen Road and Ga. Highway 21 South, near Rincon, Georgia. The building is marked, "Sports and Occupational Medicine." Please don't hesitate to contact Mr. Joe Tallent, Manager of the Sports Medicine program at (912) 826-1500 for more information.
