That is a great question.
We have bright pink boxes all around the county with copies of the month's edition of Kidsville News. We also have some black wire racks at some locations that have them inside.
Here are some of the locations: Guyton IGA, Dollar General in Guyton, Springfield and Rincon, the County Health Department, Effingham Hospital, both branches of the library, North Time Saver, South Time Saver, El Ranchito, YMCA, El Real, GeoVista, Movie Gallery, Mexico City, First Kids Pediatrics, Hong Kong Buffet, Swamp Fox, Premier Dental Designs, Faulkville Subway, Lakeside Chevron, Hot Spot, Teach Right and at the Effingham Herald office (outside and inside).
They will also be inserted in the Effingham Herald at the beginning of June and July so that our subscribers can have them delivered to their homes.
Have a great summer and keep on reading!!
I am a green dragon and my speciality is in elementary school-aged children and their ability to learn. I like to encourage reading and finding ways to make learning fun.
I am sorry that I will not be able to answer your question. I would suggest you consult with an attorney instead.
Summer is a great time to be a kid! It is a needed break from the daily grind of school. But you are right to be thinking about getting your son ready to go back to school. There are many things that you can do to ensure a great start to the new year.
Here are just a few suggestions:
I hope these few ideas give you a starting point to giving your son a great start to the next school year.
For Effingham County, the summer reading program kicks off on June 2. The kickoff party will begin at 10 a.m. at the Rincon Branch Library. There will be games and activities for all ages, plus a few special guests.
The theme this summer is, "Catch the Reading Bug!" To participate you just need to read or listen for a total of 10 hours and complete your summer reading log.
For more information, visit www.liveoakpl.org.
Well one of my themes is "Keep on Reading" so I would suggest that you find some fun things to do with books.
Most local libraries have summer reading programs. In the Effingham/Chatham County area, the Live Oak Libraries has one that runs all summer long that the children receive rewards for time spent reading (or being read to for younger children). The libraries also offer activity programs for the children. Locally they have had magicians, musicians and other performers come. They have also had days with arts and crafts projects focused around a particular book. So visit www.liveoakpl.org to find activities that your nearest library will be doing for children.
Also, you can turn any small or large trip into an educational experience. If you are planning a trip out to Oatland Island, then go to the library or log on to the Internet and find out more about a particular animal that resides there. If you are planning a trip to the beach, you could check out a book about sea turtles for a younger child or one about wave action for your older child. For your child, studing about something before they go can really enhance their enjoyment of the trip.
